LUMINOUSnight is a one night spectacular of light and art and The University of Western Australia’s 100th birthday gift to the people of Western Australia.

From 7pm until midnight on Friday 8 February 2013, it will be transformed into a walk-through gallery and performance space, hosting a continous program of performances, displays and installations - a delight of light, art and history.

The exhibitions program for LUMINOUSnight features commissioned artwork as well as curated exhibits from the University Art Collection, Cruthers Collection of Women's Art, Berndt Museum of Anthropology and SymbioticA Centre for Biological Arts.

 

 

Dark Portals

From the Cruthers Collection of Women's Art, Dark Portals showcases emerging artist Sera Waters depicting contemporary themes through traditional needlework and embroidery.

When: 7pm - 10pm

SymbioticA Retrospective

This exhibition showcases the depth and range of artworks that have been researched at the SymbioticA Centre for Biological Arts in its thirteen year history.

Through the Kunai Grass: Portraits of the New Guinea Highlands 1951 - 53

This exhibition showcases stunning, never seen before, photographs of the people of the Eastern Highlands region of Papua New Guinea. This is a rare opportunity to see the glorious decorated bodies of these village people in their remote setting.
