LUMINOUSnight is a one night spectacular of light and art and The University of Western Australia’s 100th birthday gift to the people of Western Australia.

From 7pm until midnight on Friday 8 February 2013, it will be transformed into a walk-through gallery and performance space, hosting a continous program of performances, displays and installations - a delight of light, art and history.

Throughout various locations, trees, screens and the campus landscape will be transformed by stunning installations commissioned for LUMINOUSnight.



A display of stunning and inspired astronomical time-lapse video, CELESTIALvisions features the superb night sky of Western Australia, together with iconic landscapes, such as the Pinnacles, Wave Rock, Lake Ballard and Wolfe Creek Crater.

LUMINOUS (Augmented Reality)

Think: Second Life objects embedded in the landscape and viewed through a free app for smar phones and tablet devices. See the space invaders on Riley Oval, the virtual forest on James Oval, the spacecraft hovering over the Reid Library, and many more intrguing virtual objects.

When: 7pm until midnight

Where: Various locations. Check the map for the Augmented Reality icon.

Peacock and University Crest

View two striking installations of three-dimensional images of a peacock and the University crest produced by Pallet Media.
